Learn more about the KFH way of lungeing. With his professional background in communications he has shaken up the international horse world. He is working with these powerful, dignified creatures in accordance with nature. The development of the rider's "presence" and an orientation to holistic principles is integral to this work. Klaus has the ability to "know" a horse within a few seconds and within a few minutes of the first meeting, he establishes a relationship so firmly that anything after that is completely based on trust -- creating lifelong friendship with the horses. Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling (latest book The Horse Seeks Me) is touching equestrians worldwide, with response in fields like natural horsemanship, horse whispering, classical and freestyle dressage, equestrian sports, western riding, endurance, eventing and horseback riding in general. He is at the forefront on working and interacting with horses and is known for authentic and effective groundwork according to the horses' nature, often proved and documented with stallions (breeding stallions). He considers the horse's psyche (horse psychology) and communicates via body language with these beautiful creatures. His first book, 'Dancing with Horses' met with overwhelming success. The main focus of his teaching is the humans' personal development and he is the founder of horse assisted manager and leadership training, having trained and coached many managers and leaders from companies all over the world. Klaus lived with wild horses in wilderness to observe their animal language and natural horse behaviour. In the beauty of this nature he developed his principals of the 'first encounter' of human and horse.
One of his specialities is the work with difficult and aggressive horses. Hempfling transforms dangerous, nervous, traumatized horses into cooperative companions. They recognize him as their leader, and become willing partners in groundwork and under saddle. The KFH riding system 'Balanced Weight Riding' starts with thorough groundwork and lungeing at liberty, building up the potential for the exercises of the High School Dressage (Haute Ecole), like shoulder-in, Spanish walk, passage. One may say that he is meanwhile one of the leading names in the issue animal and especially horse welfare and horse passion and love, as well as horses in wildlife, roots in nature and animal communication. The German TV programme called him one of the most important horse whisperer of the world. Hempfling's professional background is in the fields communication, art, theatre, music, study of native people and cultures. He lives on a small island in the Danish Archipelago where he conducts exclusive courses for people from all corners of the world.
Paint It Black Dancing at Liberty December 2012
Here's another fun video of Paint It Black (PB) and I playing at liberty. We're working on circles, keeping the flow and keeping the energy light and fun.
Leading lessons with miniature horses
Today's lesson. This is my second visit. Last visit all of these horses were not leading well. I only worked with this particular horse a few minutes last session. I am demonstrating proper leading. The goal is, I don't feel him, and he does not feel me. Our goal is lightness.
Even though these horses are small, they are still horses, they believe they are 17 hand's tall. In their hearts and minds they are as big as any Budweiser Clydesdale. You do your horse, foal, or mini no favors by allowing them to get pushy, step into you, or drag you, it's also not fair for you to be constantly pulling on them. Leading a horse, is similar to Heeling a well behaved dog on a leash. The horse should walk when you walk, stop when you stop. and if you turn to the right, he should move his feet and body out of your way.

Watch in HD!
I was asked to make a video of Huli, as the latest video of him is from the summer. So I thought isn't it time already? Clips are all from 2012, from February to August. The reason why I don't have more recent clips than the autumn ones, is the weather - the riding area has been frozen for a month or so and we could only walk on it - until now when we finally got snow which makes it a slightly softer platform. Still waiting for more snow though (we will get it, it's only a matter of time until we have human-tall snow piles everywhere.) And I promise to take tons of clips when we get the snow :)
Oh and about the video, I know it's not very good one editing-wise and the song is kind of dramatic but I love the song and I think the clips are pretty nice ^_^
LIKE us on Facebook, I post news and photos along with the new videos there :)
