Arien Aguilar; Balanced Horseman

My name is Arien Aguilar I live in Brenham Texas with my parents Alfonso and Karin Aguilar.

I am 18 years old. Since I was 5 years old I have shown a passion for wild animals and I had the opportunity to interact with reptiles, dogs, horses, and sheep. On our farm in Mexico, my father showed me how to handle animals with respect and read their body language in order to interact with them .

I have participated in a stock dog competition working with sheep and being graded in the complexity and good use of the commands that the dog knew to accomplish the task of driving the sheep where the dog was commanded to. In this national competition I accomplished the second place. I also have participated in equine competitions in Europe, like the Agazul fair of the Swiss breed, the Freiberger. At this event, the challenge was to go through a gymkhana which is a set of obstacles in which you were graded in the perfection of the accomplishment.

In 2007 I attended at the zoo in Leon, Mexico; were I learned from D.M.V Jose de Jesus and helped as an assistant in taking care of the animals. It included feeding animals like big cats, birds, monkeys and big mammals like elephants and rhinos. As well as taking care of some health issues by helping as an assistant in various operations and procedures. After that in 2008 I visited the zoo of Zurich, Switzerland; were I also helped veterinarians with the equipment to take care of different species mainly assisting in evaluating abnormal behavior and doing normal jobs as checking easy to detect signs of health and helping with equipment to take care of animals.

I have had the great opportunity to impart talks to my school teammates in Mexico and the United States. Also talks in the University of La Salle (Mexico) and to the teachers of the UNAM (University of Mexico); were the center of discussion was housing, environmental enrichment of equines, how to improve health in horse being kept in stalls and corrals, by improving the places physiologically and making them more safe physically.

In November of 2009 I also organized a fair in Brenham with different clinicians, were the subjects covered were, fitting bridles and bozals, understanding horses through character and temperament, nutrition in horses, and also presenting demonstrations about what you can achieve through the right methods of training .The demonstrations were liberty work, keeping your horses supple trough flexion and collection and trailer loading witch presented common problems and mistakes that people makes when loading a horse into the trailer.

I have been invited to attend the national young leaders conference, in Washington, D.C. as well as the boy's state In which the top 40 students of the Brenham high school were invited to attend.

In 2010 I met Wolfgang Krishke from the baroque riding school in buckeburg where I spent long parts of my tours in Europe, to polish my riding technique and learn more about the baroque riding art. there I also met Arne koets who then begun to teach me the art of sword fighting and the sport of jousting. In the winter of 2011 I participated in the Christmas special show of the hofreitshule buckeburg where I participated demonstrating Mexican heritage in roping and riding.

In 2012 I met Frank Whalhauser from the beeline company for whom I began to develop a program to Further the skills of his employes in creating working relationships using horses as an example and point of reference. at this same time I met bent branderoup, who opened my eyes to the art of academic riding and with who I learned a lot by visiting him at his stables in Denmark. In July of this year, I participated in the show "le carrousel de sanssouci" in Potsdam Germany in which I participated as a cavalier, this show was the first ever attempted re-enactment of a 1750 carousel in which the best riders of the world participated re-enacting the exercises and maneuvers of the presentation just as it would have been presented in medieval times.
In Spain I learned the art of the cossaque voltige from Florin Cristel Harbor and Miron Bococi with who I perfectioned my Liberty work technique.

I am currently offering courses in Switzerland, Mexico, France, Germany, Denmark, Holland, untied states and Spain. Where I am focusing on the training of horses based on no confrontation and reading the body language of the animal (horses).

Now recently I am focusing my attention to the behaviour of animals, directing myself more toward training methods and the efficiency of each, also how animals learn so that we can understand them and improve our techniques to meet the requirements of the specie being treated.

I plan to better my riding, roping , liberty and ground school working techniques by learning the best from all the horse masters that I meet through my life.
